How to Become a Coach @ GCYSA
Thank you for your interest in coaching with GCYSA. This page is designed to streamline the process for
new coaches and for returning coaches who need to update their credentials.

Quick Overview
All GCYSA coaches must complete the PA West Risk Management process, obtain required
background clearances, and complete SafeSport training.
Step 1
Review PA West Risk Management Requirements
Start by reviewing PA West Soccer’s risk management overview:

Step 2
Register in the PA West Risk Management Portal
Access the PA West Soccer Online Risk Management Portal and register as a coach.
Helpful Documents
You’ll return to the portal later to upload all required documents for approval.
Step 3
Obtain Required Background Clearances
Complete the clearances below and save your documents for upload.
A. PA State Police Criminal Record Check (Volunteer)
Visit ePATCH, select “New Volunteer Record Check”, and follow the steps.
B. FBI Background Check (or ACT 153 Volunteer Affidavit)
You must complete ONE of the options below:
Option 1: FBI Fingerprinting (IdentoGO)
Schedule fingerprinting through IdentoGO for the Commonwealth of PA.
Service Code: 1KG756
Approx. Cost: $26.20
Local note: In Grove City, there is an office at the Intermediate Unit Center near Hillview.

Option 2: ACT 153 Volunteer Affidavit (Notarized)
Download the affidavit and have it notarized.
Step 4
Complete SafeSport Training
Important Note
Please do not share the SafeSport link publicly. It is for U.S. Soccer–affiliated participants only.
SafeSport Training Steps
- Use the SafeSport link above.
- Complete information on the Sign Up page.
- If prompted, log in to the new account you just created.
- Click Menu and select Catalog.
- Start “SafeSport Trained – U.S. Soccer Federation” and complete the course.
- Download your certificate and upload it to the PA West Risk Management Portal.
How to Download Your Certificate
- Select the Menu icon (top right).
- Select Transcript.
- Find your most recent completion under the Certificates section.
- Click Download next to the completed course.
Step 5
Upload Your Clearance Documents & SafeSport Certificate
Once you have obtained all required documents, log back into the PA West Risk Management Portal and upload your files for approval.
Step 6
Email all documents to GCYSA
Finally, please email all of the documents and clearances to GCYSA at
