The primary objective of U8 is to have fun! The children should be spending most, if not all, of their practice time playing games that involve running and kicking with the ball. Games, and not drills, are the primary teaching method used at this level.
All U6 skills are reinforced including: dribbling, throw in, corner kick, and goal kick. The terms offense and defense (very loosely) and team work are added to this age group. Passing to other players is encouraged. Goalies are introduced at this level as well as bigger nets.
Remember that this is non-competitive soccer and encouragement and patience are the key attributes for coaches, parents and spectators.
